Q. I applied to a job and sent the wrong version of my resume. What should I do?

A. Oops! First, don’t freak out. We've all been there: You were so excited to find the perfect job on Monster that you pulled the trigger too soon. It’s good that you realized you sent the wrong resume rather than wondering why the employer never ended up calling you. Breathe.

Next step: Reapply to the job. If the company says your resume is already in their system, you can do one of two things. First, it's likely you’ll receive an email confirmation stating your application has been received. If there’s an edit option, you should be able to go into your online profile and replace the document. If not, there's a second option. This may sound weird, but you should reapply with a slight variation of your name. For instance, if I applied as Vicki, then I’d apply again as Victoria with the correct resume.

Now make sure to properly label your resumes so you can avoid this mishap in the future!
